BionicPup32 (UPupBB) (27 June 2020)
This GLIBC error still occurs, I'm sorry to say. I can work round it (by not using Chromium!). Can I check I have compatible versions... I installed frugal Puppy from LxPupBionic19.03+5.iso and I loaded chromium_74.0.3729.169+pepper_32.0.0.192_lx_spot.sfs . Are these the versions you intended to be used together? Thank you.

I'm pleased to confirm that this latest chromium sfs (now at release 75.0.3770.100) loads and starts on my BionicPup32 system with no problem. Thanks to peebee and OscarTalk for responding and sorry for my slowness in updating the thread.peebee wrote:Please try:

Implementation of MochiMoppel's Most Recently Used Document
Hello peebee
I haven't gone through the upupbb/bionicpup32 threads so am unaware of a report on the following.
You implemented MochiMoppel's Most Recently Used Document How to show Recently Used Documents on JWM's Start Menu but it is placed as a menu item in Places which is immovable. Consequently, hanging from the left, the width of the display area is limited to just 5 inches. A screenshot is not possible for me. Mochi's original is set up to always hang from the left so you don't have a choice in using the empty space on the right.
My implementation based on Mochi's instructions in the thread, presents a related problem for me, which I have notified Mochi about. It is that with files several levels deep and long web page article titles, the complete path of some files cannot be seen even when the Menu is invoked from the farthest right.

Woo hoo. I've been using Upup CC 18.10 +1 from a multisession DVD (though it only saved the one session, it wouldn't save any more sessions after that) that I downloaded and burned last October.
I just now downloaded the Bionicpup32-8.0-UEFI .iso, burned it to a DVD (using burniso2cd from a console) and then clicked the Save icon on the Upup CC desktop. Lo and behold, it saved a session to the Bionicpup32-8.0 DVD that I just burned! I haven't booted it yet, but if all went well I should have just updated Upup CC to Bionicpup32-8.0. I have high hopes that I'll be able to save more sessions to the Bionicpup32-8.0 DVD if I want.

Correct - Distrowatch constraint - they don't like changing iso names......artsown wrote:Peebee, the latest (+10) iso at ibiblio is not named as such.

Continuing my previous post, unlike the earlier UPupBB, this latest Puppy saved a second session.
A word to anyone using Puppy from a multisession DVD: delete the browser's cache before you save. I'm using Firefox, which doesn't provide an easy way to put its cache in /tmp so that the cache isn't included in a saved session. I forgot to delete the cache before I saved the session, so the saved session is like, 600 MB or something. Still, it only takes about 3 minutes to boot.
Even with this latest version of UPupBB, I still have to enter "puppy acpi=off" at the boot prompt. Is there any reason this couldn't be included in the .iso? I really don't know what it does, but if it were entered in a computer that didn't require it, would it make any difference?

ppm with ppas
yo boss', here is ESL, excuse any obscure grammar written below.
For the record:
adding 2+ lanchpad ppas, PPM fails to wget the correct FQDN. The first in line is used as base for any launchpad repos along in the file.
[Solved] The wrong part of the running script, ppm downloads from an alien ppa instead. It skips or unaware to correctly attribute differents sources, case the intended KPXC provider, phoerious ppa. The reason for that remains concealed, after hours of editing DISTRO_COMPAT_REPO file and "81:!)" attempts.
have been ferreting into bbpup this week on a {1028:} inspiron 1525. had to disable svideo-1 boot parameter and nicely set lines towards load of a module in modprobe.d's puppy.conf, thus made kernel log barkless.

Set Firefox to clear cache when you close Firefox.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Flash, might you be able to disable APM, ACPI in the Bios? (Advanced Configuration and Power /interface)
Or maybe a line acpi=off in the isolinux.cfg.
I think Windows might freak out possibly, especially if you originally intalled with acpi on, but Puppy might just shrug its shoulders.
