Upup Precise 3.7.2 with kernel 3.7.2, no pae
LateAdopter. Ok. I edited my post. the upload has been broken. It was only about 7 Mb when the original vlc pet was 19 Mb. This vlc is Ubuntu original with all needed libs.
There is also Precise Puppy compiled version which is only 5 Mb in size. But it has worked just fine for me. The size difference of Ubuntu canonical version and Precise Puppy compiled is remarkable.

Thanks Raffy of your feedback with wireless.

Concerning lack of wireless, I was reminded of the power
management bug in some 3.X kernels that makes wireless
unreliable with some hardware. So I played with booting
with acpi=off and also tried disabling acpid (and then
loading the rt2500pci driver). Nothing I try has any effect.
Also, it's peculiar that when I try ndiswrapper and my
Windows .inf and driver I see a error message claiming
there is no ndiswrapper. A file search certainly finds all
kinds of ndiswrapper stuff in the file system. So what gives
here?
Searching the internet hasn't turned up any clues so far
either.

Artsown. There is no ndiswrapper for this kernel. I couldnt get it to compile. I got errors which I couldnt resolve. I havent much tried again though.
The error message has been different than in this fix:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 311#671311
And I suppose you have tried that one also.

I did download latest svn of ndiswrapper:
svn co co https://ndiswrapper.svn.sourceforge.net ... diswrapper ndiswrapper-svn
And it compiled just fine. Maybe my previously used source was broken by heavy usage...or this latest just compiled and the previous one didnt.
Anyway.....here is ndiswrapper kernel module driver.

pemasu, ndiswrapper allowed me to get a connection using frisbee.
At least I managed to discover that wlan0 power management is off by
default using this kernel. And I was able to do some download speed
testing to verify that wireless performance seems solid and reliable. I
was curious to know if the 3.7.2 kernel has the wireless power management
bug, and it does not seem to.
However, I won't be using 3.7.2 with a wireless connection since the
use of the Windows driver gives me too many annoying problems.

I decided to raise a issue here in the hope of getting the attention of
appropriate developers. If there's a more appropriate location on the
forum please let me know.
There's a very serious flaw in Barry's simple network setup and also
the more complicated network setup concerning wireless. Only a small
number of available networks are displayed for selection and they are
not ordered according to signal strength. It's likely that the user's
network has the strongest signal but it may not be presented for
selection. I noticed that Frisbee does order them according to signal
strength as they should be.

nice to have: a kind of Xorg-High.pet ...:-)
Hi Pemasu,
yeah...! running with the intel_drv.so xorg driver on 945G video controller (Dell 620 laptop)...
glxgears report less than 300 frames in 5 seconds --> -->:( !
It would be nice to have a kind of Xorg-High.pet (as it is already the case for dPup-Exprimo-3.6.2 --> on the same Dell 620 glxgears rates more than 3000 frames in 5 sec ...!! yesss...-three-thou-sands- )
i have installed Barry's Precise mesa-8.03.pet ...but results are better ... without it ...! (last edited: oops....uPup-Precise already has mesa-8.04 in it ...)
thanks anyway !

Charlie6. I think Precise Puppy and so....also Upup Precise has everything included.
This post might help you get better response with glxgears:

Upup Precise 3.7.2 with kernel 3.7.2, no pae
@pemasu
I compiled and made a vlc 2.0.5 pet in upup precise 3.7.2, I used the
same method as last summer for vlc 2.0.3.
It'll need the dvb firmware if you still have that pet and qt-4.8.2.
It works on this pc with the ati driver, will likely need the proprietary nvidia driver but may work with the nouveau driver (haven't tested that)
Anyhow, here's the link if you'd like to test it:

Billtoo. Thanks. Your vlc-2.0.5 works fine. Subtitles and dvb-c tuning works. Tv channels plays fine. I have several dvb firmware pets. Including the one I think you meant.
All my usual video test formats and files played fine.
I stripped your vlc pet from 12 Mb to 5.2 Mb and then I uploaded it with the same name to the upup repo.
Thanks.

What should have been the correct "trident" driver actually loaded on initial boot but caused a lot of screen distortion and flickering so I switched to "vesa".

I managed to finally get wirless working well with the Windows driver. Frisbee now
comes up and makes the wlan0 connection quickly at startup. I can confirm that
power management on wlan0 is off by default. I haven't experienced any symptoms
of the wireless bug. I haven't yet booted up enough times to say anything about
the black screen bug but so far I haven't seen it.
So it certainly looks like the 3.7.2 kernel is free of the wireless bug! Hooray! I plan to
just use 3.7.2 every day for awhile to see if any issues arise.

Precise 3.7.2. with PAE Kernel
Precise is the most stable Puppy for me (automatic suspend when lid is closed, etc etc).
No stop in work of software, no other noticeable errors, stability and reliability.
When you think to compile a PAE-kernel version?
Thanks a lot for your work.

To the poster above wanting a PAE version - I think this is what you are looking for http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=82255
There's also Precise 5.4.3 - See http://bkhome.org/blog2/?viewDetailed=00070

Sorry about the download link. I have had to remove my previous work heavily due to disk space requirements. I have had generous permission from smokey01 to upload to the site. Now there has been need to restrict the load. So...I have removed a lot stuff from there. But...it was not meant to remove this build. I am uploading it atm again. I am so grateful that I have had opportunity to upload to the smokey01.com that I dont want to spoil it.
About PAE 3.7.2 kernel. Probably not going to do it. I just dont have enough time to do all those things I would like to.
I am atm trying to create working dpup wheezy, and the progress has been good. Soon there is time to update Upup Precise builds, when Barry Kauler announces 'woof plateau' time. Then I believe Barry uploads next Precise Puppy and I try follow with my enhancement builds. So...one person....one life...many things to do.
I used this build mostly before I changed to the Dpup Wheezy builds. I am delighted that it behaves with people.
