Ciao vicmz, there are some problems....
- firefox27 for now is only for slacko (it's missing in precise)
- from the last langpack some menu 'voices' are also missing (langpack_it-20140410.pet is ok)
- frontend_funcs also missing (put manually)
- gparted_shell also missing (put manually)
Then, I think, some files (not in MoMa) must be inserted manually every time .... abiword and cups too
thinking about how to insert it automatically
reflection: slacko is more 'precise' than precise

gparted_shell :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
pburn :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
xorgwizard-cli :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
P.S.: gparted_shell and pburn are different (slacko --> precise)
then, the previous langpack + firefox27 +
Wallpaper: usr/local/apps/Wallpaper/locale
wallpaper italian :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
is good for slacko560 langpack (570 next time) and without Puppy wallpaper setter.
When you added the new gparted_shell and pburn,
start the precise571 langpack
All the rest is ok

That's why I'm now maintaining separate langpacks for Woof2 puppies (Precise, Wary, Racy, Retro-Precise, derivatives) and for Woof-CE puppies (Slacko, FluxPup, derivatives). This means that I boot Slacko 5.7 to make langpack_woofce_es, and Precise 5.7.1 to make langpack_es. How about a langpack_woofce_it separate from langpack_it? Of course, Momanager can adapt existing translations to the puppy you're running, so you don't need to start from the beginning to adapt the langpack to Slacko.

Just put them into /usr/share/doc/langpack-template
which could be a link to /mnt/home/langpack-template
and you can use it for several puppies...
------
I have been trying to create mo files for woof and woof-ce
Not sure if you like it that way
If you translate the fuzzy messages then
look to the end of the po file.
There are
#~ msgid "hello".
#~ msgstr "Hallo".
These are no more valid in the actual (woof-ce) script,
I had changed them back to (it is one search... replace in geany)
msgid "hello".
msgstr "Hallo".
So they stay valid and the file can be used in woof and woof-ce.
vicmz's way appears to be easier....

@vicmz
@L18L
ok, i think so:
separated langpacks is better, for now I take care of translating precise and after I change the fuzzies for slacko,,,, is just what you say L18L, the differences are only the fuzzies
For the 'indipendents' files from MoMa, when I have figured out what they are all, we will see how to do it.
Happy Easter!

Hi Vicmz I see your new langpack, but I don't understood the differences.
Mine is 2727 k and your is 2526. It is compiled directly from MoMa, if there are more files then I must edit it manually again? Now I work only with precise like you

Here are another suggestions in case you don't know what to translate next:
puppyinstaller
bootmanager
alsaconf
bootflash
grub4dos
frugalinstaller
OCI
puppyinstaller --> OK
bootmanager --> OK
alsaconf --> OK
bootflash --> OK
grub4dos --> not works in moma (in slacko570 too),,,, @ please L18L help me
frugalinstaller --> not in precise (at the end)
OCI --> not in precise (at the end)
At today 163 apps translated....the show must go on!
-----
PS: I started also the langpack for slacko570...
----
NB: please delete firefox27 from first page (works only with slacko560, for now)

I could not resist the temptation to try translating wbar!
Copied /root/.wbar to /etc/xdg/templates/_root_.wbar

Appended

Sorry, I forgot to post about it. The differences are the usual stuff, Abiword and CUPS translations missing, a bunch of HTML help files that aren't translated so no need to include them.

The last two ones have to be installed to translate them.
frugalinstaller is here
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=57711
OCI is here
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=89050
There are many Puppy apps that are usually not included in the official builds, but they are actually included in some versions and derivatives, or installed separately by users. For example the Peasy apps
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=84490
Of course these are only ideas on where to continue. The best translations are those made taking enough time to read and analyse.
It's amazing how the langpack has grown.

Can this be applied to a wbar pet? Most wbar pets on the forum have translations for the configuration GUI but the text in the bar itself remains in English (meaning that after installing you have to edit each icon text manually to translate).

After thinking long time about this idea I have come to the conclusion:
No, wbars are too different and individual and there is no standard xdg/template and never will be.
But I have made version 1.0
Using this you can translate using wbar-config in different languages.
..and see texts in different (translated by yourself) languages.
Simply added
Code: Select all
if [ -f $HOME/.wbar ]; then #140430
#echo "cp $HOME/.wbar $HOME/.wbar-${old_LANG}"
cp $HOME/.wbar $HOME/.wbar-${old_LANG}
kill `ps | grep wbar$ | grep -v grep | cut -d' ' -f1`
#echo "cp $HOME/.wbar-${new_LANG} $HOME/.wbar #140429"
cp $HOME/.wbar-${new_LANG} $HOME/.wbar #140429
wbar &
fi
to the script.
See
version 1.0 please.
Thus translations are independant of any langpack...

Hi xanad,
your translation of wbar.po should also be sent to the owner of wbar
http://code.google.com/u/warlock.cc/. There is only
de es and
fi for now.
He will be happy to have
it too I think.

Simple fix is change line 68 from
Code: Select all
export TEXTDOMAIN=grub4dosconfig #v1.7.9 #$(basename "$0")
to
Code: Select all
export TEXTDOMAIN=grub4dosconfig
#v1.7.9 #$(basename "$0")

Ottimo!
About the langpack for Slacko, it's better to rename the folder before building the langpack instead of renaming the langpack itself, to prevent install issues. And I recommend to rename it to
langpack_woofce_it because it can be used for any puppy built from Woof-CE, not just Slacko. I know at the moment Slacko 5.7 and FluxPup are the only puppies built with Woof-CE on its present version, but surely there will be more.
