Shoulld I overclock my CPU?

#1 Post by 8-bit »

I have an older Dell tower with 4 gigabytes of ram and an intel duo core e6300 CPU.
The CPU is currently running at 1.89 ghz and I at a temperature of 51 c.
I am thinking about overclocking it.
I tried for raising the buss setting from 200 to 300 and got afraid of a CPU burnout when on restart, the fan roared at me.
That setting showed the CPU speed at 2.1 ghz.

Should I leave the PC as it is? Or try bumping up the processor speed?

I should state that it is using the stock, from Dell, heat sink and fans.

You might want to read this article for tips. The e6300 is an O/C beast if you keep memory timings adjusted. Prime95 for test. Keep Voltage at 1.40V. BTW: If you decide to keep at 2800MHz, you can UNDERVOLT the CPU to 1.100 Volts. GL
