How to use Nvidia Non-Free Driver in Tahrpup64 6.0.5?

#1 Post by puppy_king »

I searched with my model (GeForce GTX 650) and found this result

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverRe ... 2992/en-us

I searched the Puppy Package Manager but didn't find it.

How do I install the driver under Puppy Tahrpup64 6.0.5 ?

Which kernel is tahrpup using?

In terminal type

Code: Select all

uname -r
and hit enter will give kernel version.

There are ready made drivers available for the different kernel versions.

For example, look at this post
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... e0ac64ef96

The driver you need might reside in that thread, if you know your kernel version.

Well, have you rebooted? Did a resolution change stick?

OK, what's next?

Nvidia drivers are backward compatible but not foreward compatible, hence the latest driver will work, but generally all the
driver packages released for x64 after your card was supported by the driver package contain the driver for your card.
The Nvidia driver packages support many different cards, the latest simply support the latest released hardware.
