Is Open Office in 2.10? [Answered: No]

#1 Post by Béèm »

Is OpenOffice in the 2.10 release or did I dream it?
It seems to me that what starting 2.10 for the first time Ihad an Office entry in the menu and OpenOffice in it.
Correct?

Nope, I think you dreamed it. :)

You can get OpenOffice 2.0 from www.grafpup.com (it's an sfs file) but then you'll have to go through some hoops (see here) to get it working in 2.10. Otherwise the easier option is to get OpenOffice 1.1.4 using pupget (be sure after you do that to search the forum - there's a bug in that pupget which I can't quite remember).

In 2.10 Alpha, the OO 2.03 dotpup works fine:

Is that the same as the OpenOffice-2.03-MU.pup? (106MB)
That one I installed already when in 2.02 and so it should be in my pup_save file and available, I suppose.

I'll investigate, re-install eventually and let know the result.

yes, that is it.
I installed the big one (106 MB) on a external Linux-partition.
So when I use a new Puppy with a fresh pup_save.3fs, I only must re-install the small dotpup with the menu and startfiles.
In that case, you must create the file
/usr/local/OpenOffice-2.03/basefolder manually, it stores the location of the big folder.

Example:
I had installed the big dotpup before to /mnt/hda6, so /usr/local/OpenOffice-2.03/basefolder looks like this:

Code: Select all

/mnt/sda6/openoffice.org2.0

You can move the big folder wherever you like, if you modify "basefolder" accordingly.

Thank you.
That solved the entry in the dotpus menu for Open Office.
But I have lost all entries for previous installed dotpups when swiching from 2.02 to 2.10

I found that by using openoffice via wine that it runs much quicker, not to mention easier to install...

Puppy 2.10
Wine 0-9.17
Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!

Installing OpenOffice 1.1.4 from the Dotpup downloader. I have a puppy hard disk install (Seamonkey I think) and have tried installing OO1.1.4 via the Dotpup. Everything seems to go ok except OO won't actually start. Is this the bug you are refering to? All the dependencies seem to be installed ok, but when I click on the soffice icon - nothing happens! Tres frustration! Any ideas on how to get it going? Is it better to simply download it and install it manually?
