This is an old [winXP] printer, can I get a linux driver for the printer part? expect scanner to be u/s. thx. & does it HAVE to have colour cartridge to work as b&w?

does it HAVE to have colour cartridge to work as b&w?
If it has a colour cartridge and a black cartridge, probably only need the black for B&W.
But need to check the printer manual for info on this.
May need the colour cartridge installed, even if empty.
