Interesting idea. Could it be adapted to create an .sfs of an application I've installed myself?

Thinking specifically of R, which I've installed on both BionicPup64 and DpupBuster64. It works on both, but the DpupBuster64 version is more up to date. It would save me a lot of time (and disk space!) if I could update R on BionicPup64 without having to download all the packages again.

Certainly a good way to "unfatten" a pup.

Could one use your script to gather say, all graphic apps or all writing apps
of a pup in a sfs?

I'm sure it can be adapted for user installed packages. In fact, I did a quick trial-run which I thought should work but couldn't get it right. I get as far as the correct file structure (folders and sub-folders) getting copied but not the actual files itself which is strange. I may have a look at it again some time.

The script allows you to choose one builtin package at a time from a list. I'm sure it may be possible to choose more than one package at a time but as you are aware my coding skills are rather limited. You can of course do it the hard way by doing it one by one, creating an sfs for each and then merge the contents of all into one sfs.

Is it possible with your script (or modify one) to extract a program from a sfs that i load ?

For example i want to extract git from the the devx_bionicpup64_8.0.sfs ?

No, this script is for builtin woof-installed packages.

Mistfire's tazpup buildkit can extract the kernal from puppy so maybe with few modifications it could do the same for MXLinux.
