2.17 boot problem on eBox-2300 (solved)

#1 Post by brucehohl »

I prepared a Puppy 2.17 USB stick. I can boot from the USB stick using my PowerSpec brand computer so Puppy 2.17 appears installed OK on the USB stick. Here is the result when I try to boot the eBox-2300 with the same Puppy 2.17 USB stick. (The eBox-2300 boots fine with Puppy 2.16.)

Syslinux 3.31 2006-09-25 CBIOS Copyright (C) 1995-2005 H. Peter Anvin
Loading vmlinuz .....
Loading initrd.gz .....
Ready
[Then about a dozen lines of odd characters are displayed.]
[System freezes.]

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

yes I have exactly the same problem, and also when trying to boot from a cf card on a lenovo diskless woworkstation - which is the main reason I have stuck with the initrd from the alpha of 2.16

I tried using the 216 initrd.gz with the 217 vmlinuz, zdrv_217.sfs, and pup_217.sys but got the same message.

I tried using the 216 initrd.gz and 216 vmlinuz with zdrv_217.sfs, and pup_217.sys but got another boot error.

Even if this had worked reverting back to old files does not solve the problem that I can not get a clean upgrade or install of Puppy 217 on the eBox hardware.

Had the same problem... seems to be fixed with 2.17.1.

Thanks for that reply gourdo.
I just confirmed that 2.17.1 does boot on my eBox-2300.
