I finally got the monitor problem fixed. Now I have a new question

I have Puppy 3.0.1. After upgrading to 3.0.1 from 2.1.6.1, it was revealed that there was not enough space to fit the save file and the puppy boot files on my 256 mb usb, so I transfered the save file to my 1 gb usb. It worked fine, except for one thing. For some reason, while booting, Puppy copies the Zdrv_301.sfs file from the 256 mg to the 1 gb. I deleted it. Should I have done that? Afterall, the Zdrv file is still on the 256 mb usb.

I read my post, and it is quite vague, so I will clarify.

On my 256 mb usb drive, there is the initrd.gz, vmlinuz, pup_301.sfs and zdrv_301.sfs files, plus the syslinux and the usb boot file.

The 1 gb usb has the puppy save file.

When I booted Puppy using this combo, Puppy for some reason copied the "zdrv_301.sfs" file to the 1 gb usb. I deleted it because I see no reason to have it on both drives. Should I have kept it?

I have read somewhere in a post (can't remember which one), that zdrv_301 gets copied to the root of the partition where pup_save resides.
This is done specially when in a Live CD situation, the Live CD can be pulled out of the PC while in case the zdrv_301 is needed during the Puppy session it's available on that partition (in your case the 1GB flash)
You can erase it there, but at each boot it comes back there again.
I don't know what happens if you erase it from the 256MB flash and if you still can boot.
