How to confirm Firewall is active after Puppy starts?

#1 Post by idolguy99 »

Good day,

I have configured the firewall using the Linux-Firewall wizard. I believe this is something I only have to do once, but how can I confirm on successives bootups that the firewall is up and running?

Thanks!!

Not sure if there is a simple way of checking. Yes, set it up once & supposed to be on from that point onwards. Pretty sure 2.16 c/w firelog.

Idolguy,

One other thing you can try is the "shields up" at www.grc.com - It's designed for checking windows machines, but can tell if you have ports open - particularly if you are not behind a router. Best of all it's free!

...or get on IRC via EFnet. You'll soon know if you're protected. ;)
