Email it to yourself or friend at another machine with a working printer.
There is also a file storage website called drop.io - use it as file storage, from where the printing PC gets the file to be printed.

Nice. Anything but identify and fix the problem.

Hey! Alienated Jeff
Are you some kind of self proclaimed moderator & spell checker?
Don’t fall off your self proclaimed pillar, you may hurt your fool butt!
You better check your own posts before you pass your worthless judgement on others!!!!

Open a console and type: fixmenus
See it that restores them.

I'm sure AJ has attracted some better ones.

Nice one AJ - we're all waiting for you to fix it! There's genii and there's regular folks that live on workarounds.

I hate to turn this into a "How to Print" thread, but I did want to mention that my setup works. Here it is.

Puppy 3.01
HPLIP for puppy - http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Printing/hpli ... 1.7.4a.pet
HP Deskjet 3930

Abiword is set to print to "lpr" (default) and works fine.

Ah, but JB4x4- you are using HPlip to install an HP computer. I'm using the Canon driver for my printer, which is not recognised by Gutenprint, and using the "Or supply your own ppd file" slot in CUPS.

And to repeat: the problem does not affect Open Office, Ted, or the pdf viewers, which all print perfectly- only Abiword. And the obvious difference is that the ones that work all produce a list of installed printers in the "print" dialog box, whereas Abiword does not.

I don't find it funny at all. I'm with wingruntled, but know, aj mostly has a green light here so I urge him to continue.

Clearly, some folks like what he does but I highly doubt that it is a majority, or that it matters to anyone.

Idea is if you're bothered, learn to ignore..it's your problem.

I find it..mostly a turn off, & even abusive..to say the least.
