I wanted to convert an avi video file to mp4 . Any suggestions;

There's a .pup of avidemux, and a kino .pet, in Mu's repository:

I don't know if anyone has packaged more recent versions? If you google for ffmpeg, you'll find info on conversion via the commandline.
