Play Puppy on your TV [SOLVED]

Of course the video shows Windows, but I want to know if anyone has tried this with Puppy.

For that matter, I wonder if it can be done not just with streaming but also with saved content...wonder if VLC or Gxine or mplayer and Puppy would work doing this...
I just am unsure about specifics on the display settings, wonder if it will automatically come up or if it takes some specific settings or other...

I have done it with the monitor out on my laptop hooked the the tv's monitor in.
I've been wanting to but haven't yet, hook up a permanent box to the tv and run it with tightvnc (or similar) thru my laptop. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

by default, the standard desktop should be displayed on the TV, so you an play any videos,it acts like a monitor.
As TVs usually have a lower resolution, you might want to define a second screen, e.g. with 800x600.
This can be achieved by some lines in xorg.conf.
If you google for "xorg.conf rightof", you should find examples.

Awesome! Did you have to do any specific settings? Run any specific software? Or did it just load up fine, run xorgwizard, etc. like normal?

What about a media center? (frontend and backend). I've seen other posts talking about it , but didn't understand much. Can you combine the two projects?

To run puppy on a tv
first start up the xorg wizard, then
then select xorg
select screen size
then select "test"
then do the ctrl+Backspace
then select alternative drivers
then select Generic drivers
then select test
then do the ctrl+Backspace
then select next
and it should work
thats how I use it, all the time for about 2.5yrs now

Man, that worked great! Very cool!
Used s-video plug, then an audio plug (single from computer to double red/white for tv) for connections.
Puppy automatically went to the generic driver, but it looked pretty good, certainly not bad; watched movies on the external hard drive most of the weekend. Very cool!
FYI In 4.0 it seems gxine works better than vlc when using the tv as the monitor; not sure why that is, but it loaded better, etc. Barry did such a great job on gxine anyway that there is no problem with playing almost any format...
