Dillo-2.0 latest version

#1 Post by jonb »

Dillo.org has released the new version.
Anyone know of a PET for Puppy 4.1.2.
I recall that MU had done a previous Pup/Pet.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL !!! :D

What about plinej's .pet here?

After jonb's announcement and before Muggins link, I installed Debian binaries.

A much bigger package than the .pet

Maybe because of more documentation? I don't know.

Dillo first run makes this directory ~/.dillo

[~/.dillo] tree
.
|-- adblock.txt
|-- bm.txt
|-- cookies.txt
|-- cookiesrc
|-- dillorc
|-- dpi_socket_dir
`-- dpidrc

0 directories, 7 files
[~/.dillo]

I carried adblock.txt over from an earlier dillo and I haven't got it working.

dillorc is the key configuration file and well worth editing to your preferences.

dpidrc is worth looking at

cookiesrc allow you to define how to accept cookies and from where - the default is no cookies

bm.txt is your bookmark file and can easily be edited manually which in some cases might be easier

Forgot to mention very, very fast.

Doesn't appear to use JavaScript, which is swell by me. But something I guess I want to look into, in order to be sure.

Muggins: Thank you for steering me to plinej's pet.
Even with FLTK2, Dillo2 is very fast on my "ancient" 200MHz, 160MB machine.
Other browsers take forever.
Using Dillo for this post.

Bruce B: Somewhere I did read that Dillo2 has no Java, no Javascript, and no frames which is great for me.
It does show images except for some chartlets used in financial stuff.

As for Puppy, it's as if BarryK designed it for me; I've tried many others.
Windows took up 3/4 of my time in maintenance and security.
Many thanks to the Puppy Development Team.

Just to confirm, I used pinej's pet for Dillo on my Puppy 4.2 installation. Seems to work just fine. I installed necessary dependency's first, then Dillo. (there was some earlier conjecture whether Dillo would work on Puppy =>4)
