Gimp 2.4.5 Compiled on 4 Series 3.7MB - 14.3MB

Ok here's why I compiled a version that came out last year. Well because the latest version doesn't compile on 4 Series, because for some odd reason they need the latest Glibc and we just can't go ahead and do that without build a whole new puppy series. Grrrrrrrr So I looked at the numbers in the sources repo and 2.4.5 look like it was in the middle and a good size to boot. Also I'be been seeing some version around 24MB pets floating around etc wow, that out of hand, This version I even included WM graphics.
So let go on with it shall we :)

1-This one is the full version, nothing removed, It has the Locales, the Dev files, Help files etc, the whole Out house Sink. 14.3MB pet
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... 6-full.pet

2-This one is the same as above, But No Locales, No Dev, No Help files, but has full functionality. 5.5MB WOW what a bute :) Probably the best one for most Gimp power users.Who Don't compile plugins.
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... oc-nsl.pet

3-This is the first one that I started removing some filters or gradients, not too many and it can open and save the formats as the other 2 above, its fully functional other than some effects are removed. 4.0MB
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... ripped.pet

4-This is the second one that I removed even more filters or gradients, not too many and it can open and save the formats as the other 3 above, its fully functional other than some effects are removed. 3.7MB
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... ripper.pet

5-If you want to compile or have the documents reinstalled in the above version other than the first big one which already has it included, Install this 1MB Dev+Doc pet
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... ev-Doc.pet

6-Finally if you just want the locales&Documents for Help & language support install this pet. 8.5MB
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... s-docs.pet

Later on I might see how much smaller I could get the smallest version,

Number 2 and number 5 would make the best combination for myself, who likes to compile around 6.5MB total.

Anyways enjoy :)

Hi aragon thats one of the over-sized version, For one thing if you want the complete package you need to down load and install all this packages??? If you wanted to install mine, Just 1 package, this one your added Glib which is dangerous.

File: gimp-2.6.3-i486.pet 6475 KB
File: gimp_DEV-2.6.3-i486.pet 83 KB
File: gimp_DOC-2.6.3-i486.pet 977 KB
File: gimp_NLS-2.6.3-i486.pet 8863 KB
File: sdl-1.2.9.pet 463 KB
File: gegl-0.0.20-i486.pet 312 KB
File: babl-0.0.22-i486.pet 57 KB
File: glib-2.16.6-i486.pet 582 KB <----WHAT ??
File: libopenraw-0.0.5-i486.pet 115 KB
File: libwmf-0.2.8.4-i486.pet 816 KB

that package is 18.7MB or 4.4MB compressed larger than my version, for the full working Gimp, My version doesn't use SDL, extra Glibc, gegl, babl, openraw. the only one of those libs it actually uses is libwmf for windows format and its included in each package. Thanks but no thanks, and I didn't down-grade the config script, it configured just fine out of the box. Plus the Smallest that package goes is 8.8MB which would compare equally with my 5.5MB version.

Yes me to, the version I was using for the past year was gimp-2.4.0-rc3.pet 5.4MB pet
and before that was Gimpshop.
So tonight I figured time to upgrade, I tried compiling the latest version and ran into the issues Jcoder did, and well it wasn't worth it, to have the latest version, So I figured might as well compile an older one, So I could have something somewhat newer, And well it does have a lot newer features and its basically the same size as the one I was using earlier, So what the hay why not share it? :) Thanks for the link also :)

Thanks for the explanation and all of your hard work. I've always been a fan of "bleeding edge" software, so I look for the newest - but I've never been able to compile myself (insert self-deprecating joke here) so I depend on the kindness of strangers... now I understand why someone would choose an "older" version to compile.

Thanks again for The Gimp and all of your hard work. It's appreciated.

Scanning from Gimp

Hello, I have a working xsane scanner. I would like to scan from inside gimp, a standard feature of graphics editors. One would expect to find this choice under Gimp | File | Acquire. All I see there is Paste New or Screenshot.

Actually I have been using Gimp as a photo editor for some time, most recently a previous 2.4.5 pet but would like it all to work. I'm using Nop 4.1.3. After trying version 2 at the top of this thread I tried the "full" version 1 but after either installation I can't find the scan function - or the help files. Help!

Incidentally, scanning from OpenOffice works more or less as expected. (Yes, it has help too)

I'm sure this is an oversight on my part, but the odds are better if I ask someone who knows.

Thanks, ttuuxxx, another example of your legendary responsiveness!

Sorry I really don't understand how this works, but that .pet didn't seem to change anything. Also still puzzled about how to see the help files, if they are included.

Ahhh Henry I figured it out I think, When Xsane was compiled the person didn't have the gimp dev files installed, so then Xsane didn't compile with support, I was using dpup earlier and when I made that little pet fix I sent you on here, it work because the puppy I was using was debian based, not Barry Based  I'll see what I can figure out.

I also included the plugin with the package

Good morning ttuuxxx,

You're too fast for me. ;-) The last Gimp-xsane pet didn't help, although it stopped my standalone Xsane from working. It also missed a dependency, libtiff.so.5. And I'm still wondering why I can't see any Gimp help files with your full version 1. Anyway, I'm sure you have more important project work now than this. Maybe later?

Ok uninstall the first package and install the newer one I have posted above, it has the missing updated lib, thats why your scanner wasn't working because of it :)
Now it should work, report if anything else is missing

the newest one is the one I made for Wary, may not work on other puppy versions, you might have to make system links in other puppy versions.
