Could someone please make an .sfs or pet for Songbird 1.1 that works in 4.1.2? http://getsongbird.com/ Thanks!

Do you need one?

I extracted the generic Linux binary archive from getsongbird here to /opt/Songbird, and the program is run by the songbird script. Works fine.

Doing it this way doesn't add it to Puppy's menu, but that's an easy enough fix. It also doesn't make it uninstallable through PetGet, but that's not a problem either, as it's self-contained. Just delete the Songbird directory.

I tried to install it in MediaPup in both usr/local and opt. I get a Javascript error message and it doesn't work. I'd prefer an official Puppy version. The .sfs version of the previous Songbird worked fine.

He has the 1.0 sfs. He's looking for 1.1.

What error message did you get?

Sounds like a conflict with something else already present.
I'd prefer an official Puppy version.
The .sfs version of the previous Songbird worked fine.
I assume you removed that before trying to install from the Songbird archive?

I removed the old one from the boot manager. I'll just wait for the official version. Thanks!

Perhaps i missed somthing here.. but the use of the term 'official' seems missleading.

If i just manage to cobble together a songbird pet (shouldent be too hard) does that make it official?

Im about to go grab the latest and see how it runs on 4.20 Im not sure what a sfs package of it would do.. other then allow easier removal and perhaps adding an icon to the right places.

How do I play wma files in songbird?

#9 Post by Dromeno »

I have successfully installed/applied the songbird.sfs. It works fine but it will not play wma files. There seems to exist a workaround solution to that, see

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/working-with- ... files.html

...but I get stuck when I try to do this in puppy. I can not find the

coreGStreamerSimple.js

So if anybody can modify the songbird.sfs so that it plays wma's I am happy
