my scanner doesn't work...

hi,
I have a epson stylus DX 3800 and I run a live CD puppy 412.
I succeeded to make printing work ( thanks to this wonderful forum ) , but the scanner doesn't ( it's a multifunction ) , no matter how much I try to open xsane ( it says NO DEVICE AVAILABLE )
please help

Rheya,

on this sane page it, (for some reason?), has two listings for the DX3800, each one with a different sane backend driver, epson & epson2.

I looked at the file /etc/sane.d/dll.conf, with a text editor, and they're both uncommented, so I wonder whether if you put a commented out epson, (by putting a # in front of it & saving), whether that would make any difference?

Or, this page suggests that IScan could be the solution. In which case you could try installing ttuuxxx's X-sane-iscan.pet.
