Live CD test resoulotion problem

I tested the standard resolution(from Live CD) and I got a black screen, I got a system beep(Not from audio systems but from the actual computer)I had to unplug the computer.
When not doing testing it works fine.
Hardware:
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 (GFX card)
Sony LCD moniter(don't kow model)
