Amateur Radio - Another New App

#1 Post by edoc »

Just heard about this Linux-based app to calculate a Moxon antenna.

This was written in Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS and requires FLTK 1.1.7.

Will this work in Puppy 4.31 and other versions?

Wow, thanks! That was quick!

It works perfectly ... except that the author forgot to provide for a methodology to print the results.

Is the only option to use mtPaint screen capture, save the file, then print from Gimp or Seamonkey (a kludge but it works)?

If anyone wants to do the same thing but from their browser you can just open the small html file and moxon graphic in the attached .rar file.

It creates the same dimensions using a java script and the graphic shows which dimension is which. Looks almost exactly like the hard coded one but a lot smaller (5 KB), plus its portable since it will run in any java script enabled browser in any OS.

Thanks....I'd love to see one that lets you calculate wire size, number of turns and cap value to make dipole shortners, or traps for multi-band HF antenna.

@ tlchost

If you run a windoze or dos machine you might find what you need here:

http://www.cq-amateur-radio.com/HamCalcem.html

Or if you can run Java applets you can get some of the Hamcalc functions on these web pages:

http://homepage.mac.com/s_lott/_static/ham/index.html

Best I can do for you, hope that helps. - Dan w4dxy

EDIT: cq-amateur-radio.com has the latest version of HamCalc, the other pages link to it is old so if you want to download that program use the first link. The second is just for the java versions.
