NFS file sharing

#1 Post by p310don »

Ok, here is the deal. I have a home network that consists of a server, my eeepc, and 3 other PCs. All of them are running puppy in one way or another.

The file server is running pupserver and it works great sharing everything out via SAMBA, but, I'm figuring, why am I using the windows implementation of file sharing when I could be using a native sharing setup like NFS.

I have read mikeb's post on implementing NFS filesharing, but it doesn't seem to apply to 5.25, and any other puppies with newer kernels.

Any help to point in the right direction would be great.

Thanks

Have you looked at this:

I did a lot of work with NFS back in 2001 but not since and not with Puppy. I would have dig out the old documentation but that is a monumental task so I think the best way is to go with the above for a start.

I did read that Ian, that is the post I referred to. I will give it a try, despite it saying its for the older kernel. Maybe it'll work for me. Fingers crossed. :)
