Hello,
I am curious as to why *pfind* (or equivalent finder application) symbolic link isn't placed on the desktop in the original .iso.

The first thing I do when I set up a Puppy is to make a desktop symlink to *pfind*.

Newbies to Puppy and Linux in general are usually lost in finding stuff because most newbies are M$OS refugees. A sense of security that they can find something in the new environment is a good thing.

The first time I looked at a Puppy desktop (it was 4.2.1-k2.6.25.16) I was delighted to see so many familiar programs laid out so conveniently. Then I looked for a way to find files and had to dig and fiddle around to locate a *find* application. This was discouraging.

My suggestion is to have a *finder* application listed on the desktop along with all the other links to things like *write*, *paint*, *connect*, *browse* ... and, make the icon big enough to see! That little bity spy glass doesn't cut it.

I had been grumbling about this ever since I started using Puppy.

And thanks to Barkin for the well-thought-out icon.

Hopefully, all puppies will have this handy tool on the desktop now.

The other icon link I immediately put on my screen is *Hardinfo*.
I use *Hardinfo* a lot as I setup old donated machines to run Puppy or I help bail out my friends with a crashed M$OS.

The icon for *Hardinfo* is cool though, doesn't need re-designing in my opinion.

The dark outline makes the icon stand out more and match the other *smooth color* icons.

FYI - Just tried to download the zipped file and got a "The selected Attachment does not exist anymore" message.

Adding to this search thread, both pfind and search monkey could really do with a Select All function.

I uninstalled Ardour.pet recently, and it was not a clean uninstall, leaving loads of stuff in user lib, share and other places.
Pfind found where they were all living, but I had to delete the files one by one!
A simple ctrl A function would have saved a lot of time.

Thanks for the tip RSH, it will take me a while to understand it, (such a windows head lol).

I might just use Agent Ransack for the time being until I get up to scratch on the Linux way of doing things.
