How to use my Logitech f310 gamepad in Lucid 5.2.8?

I'm on lucid puppy 5.2.8 here, and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get this logitech f310 gamepad to work. Xev doesn't even realize it's there. I've tried doing modprobe usbhid and joydev, but qstick spits out an error telling me the argument to kbstick doesn't seem to be a joystick device. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you.

in xorg.conf there is a mouse section , usually device is /dev/mouse wich rc.sysinit or xwin make a symlink to psaux or input/mice . probably you need to link /dev/mouse to /dev/input/js0
