Hello, daniell61.

Welcome aboard!

You would download and activate an "SFS" file. Please see the first post here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=61287 It presents two available versions of java for Puppy.

Alternately, you can download, unpack and install the most recent java run-time environment (JRE) from the Oracle Java site directly, here: http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/ ... leId=67386

If you need instructions for the tar-ball install, it's here : http://www.java.com/fr/download/help/linux_install.xml It's quite simple, really.

Best of luck! :) BFN.

Yeah, IF you read/speak French! Any English versions around? Thanks!

Those sfs say puppy 4 and 5 ...but 4.21 uses sfs3 and 5 uses sfs 4 so may not work

This sfs is definately sfs 3 which will work on puppy 4.21
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rulm0ppokyjyu ... i.sfs?dl=1

general query...does minecraft need opengl working as the op may not have it?

You can also grab and install a recent Java .pet package from here:
http://www.theasterisk.tk/packages/java/jre.html
Then you won't have to worry about the .sfs version.
(But you will have to make a larger save file if you're not running a full installation.)

Also note the following...
TheAsterisk! wrote:
NOTE FOR SEAMONKEY 1-SERIES: The Java browser plugin I've linked to doesn't work with the older Seamonkey 1-series. To get Java working in those browsers, please follow the steps below:
Remove the symlink "/usr/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so"
Link "/usr/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so" into "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/" (in the ROX Filer, drag and drop and select the "link (relative)" option)
Enable Java from the Seamonky menu (Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced)
(4.2.1 has built-in SeaMonkey 1-series browser.)

Edit:
Just noticed this thread is ancient.
