[Update]
Printer Model-
Hewlett Packard - LaserJet 1100
Software-
Pet package hplip_print-3.12.9.pet from http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=59015
The following drivers work-
HP LaserJet 1100, hpcups 3.12.9 (color, 2-sided printing)
HP Deskjet 1120, hpcups 3.12.9 (color, 2-sided printing)
------
Here is my experience using the HP Laserjet 1100 with Puppy Linux - Slacko 5.3.1 (printer connected via parallel port), in case anyone has similar problems:
Try 1)
-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1100c v5.xx
-Prints, but output is massively enlarged - about x5
Try 2)
-Load Pet hplip_print-3.12.9.pet from http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=59015, giving more driver options
-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1100
-Prints at the correct scale, but text characters are completely jumbled
Try 3)
-Pet hplip_print-3.12.9.pet already loaded
-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1120/ Deskjet 1120 ??? tbc
-Prints out successfully
strange the wrong driver works?

Re: [Solved] HP LaserJet 1100 driver - image distorted
Was this a Gutenprint driver?darkcity wrote:-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1100c v5.xx
Was this now an HPLIP driver?-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1100
The only reference I can find for this model in HPLIP is the multi-function M1120. Is that what you used?-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1120
Your LJ 1100 uses PCL 5e, so it is compatible with many other older HP printers. You probably could have installed it as an HP4.strange the wrong driver works?
For example, my Brother laser printer is PCL-compatible. In Slacko, I installed it using the Gutenprint Laserjet 1100 driver. It worked fine. So I'm surprised that it didn't work for you with the actual printer.

Yes, I was typing from memory full name HP Laserjet 1100 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7 (en) as comes with Slackorcrsn51 wrote:Was this a Gutenprint driver?darkcity wrote:-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1100c v5.xx

I need to double check this, the printer is a friends house, unless I used DeskJet 1120 ??The only reference I can find for this model in HPLIP is the multi-function M1120. Is that what you used?-Add Printer using CUPS driver - HP Laserjet 1120
Re: [Solved] HP LaserJet 1100 driver - image distorted
A Deskjet 1120C is PCL 3, so its driver would be compatible.darkcity wrote:DeskJet 1120
HP churns out so many models that I'm amazed how they try to support them all with one driver package.
[Edit] Did you originally try to install this as a Deskjet 1100C? That would certainly explain your problem.
@Darkcity
The printer shown in the picture is an HP 1100 MFP. I have been using this printer for past 11-12 years. Its not fast, but, its very capable and functional. I've installed in over a 3-dozen accounts when it first came out. But, never on a Unix/Linix platform.
That being said, @R shares good info. But, please understand, that this printer is NOT an ink-jet printer. It is a laser. I get approx 4-8K pages out of a $35 (CA) cartridge.
Dont use is much anymore as a printer. The last 6-7 years is a networked Lexmark 522 that I got in an eBay steal new. In fact, after the Lexmark/HP/Borothers started the trend, I have NOT installed or guide anyone to purchase anything other than a networked printer because of its obvious benefits in a home/office/dept/enterprise.
Although, I have never connected the 1100 (the pictured printer) to anything other than a Windows PC, if need, I can try to connect to Linux and try to get its scanner function operational.
What say you (anyone)
