Touchpad over sensitive

I have a Thinkpad T420 & am running Slacko on a USB stick.
The touch pad is very sensitive (I don't even need to touch it - just glide above it!), I have tried reducing the sensitivity down to the minimum with the "flsynclient" program, but it does not reduce enough.
I have no experience with Linux, this is my first time.
ps, is there a way to make the keyboards 'back' and 'fwd' buttons work in the browser (Firefox Nightly)?
