You may want to try these fonts: ttf-bengali-fonts. They look way better than Unifont or squares with numbers.

Download, open the download folder in Rox and click the deb file icon to install the package. Then restart the X server.

If you install a .deb from the above link, it will put the TTF files in the following directory-

/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-bengali-fonts/

Move the individual TTF files to

/usr/share/fonts/default/TTF/

then the webpage should display correctly.

For typing Bengali - SCIM might work-
