In trying to follow one of the links you sent, I ran into Mr. Operand again. I have questions about running install: all the instructions say you have to do sudo and apt-get: they don't work for me, and I'm assuming that means I'm an administrator (woo-hoo!)?
A built-in assumption here is that, if "puppy" isn't specifically mentioned as an alternative in picking fixes, and puppy 5.2.8 is ubuntu-based, that picking Ubuntu would work.
