How to recover deleted /usr/lib? (solved)

#1 Post by linus.cl »

Accidentally I remove the whole /usr/lib directory.

I've created a live cd (usb) and install testdisk on it.
I try to recover the /usr/lib directory.

HOW can I spezify the right files?

I've created a live cd (usb) . . .
You could boot Puppy off your live CD, copy /usr/lib to a flash drive, then boot back into the Puppy with testdisk on it and copy /usr/lib off the flash drive.
If it's not Backed-Up, then it isn't really yours.
You just think it is.

I've copied /usr/lib from the liveusb.

Errors with shared libraries...... :( :( :(

I hope somebody can help me....

The best thing is probably to start over and re-install testdisk. Once it's re-installed do a backup of the Savefile.

I've reinstalled Puppy now.

I am curious though, why copying back /usr/lib from live CD did not worked.
Why should it gave errors after copying.

@neerajkolte: In /usr/lib are many libraries, for example from firefox.
I had installed a newer version of firefox and the firefox library was after the deletion away...

Firefox wasn't found.

It was intelligent to reinstall Puppy. :D

Ahh... I thought it was a prestine installation, that's what got me confused.
