Accidental deleting of jwm files (Solved)
Accidental deleting of jwm files (Solved)
Apologies if this has been addressed already...in my zeal to customise the taskbar in jwm...puppy slacko 5.7 I inadvertently deleted some files....specifically the ones controlling virtual desktops,...everything else appears fine...any help with how or where to get and replace the missing file would be very much appreciated...thanks

Hello, ion4449.
There is a "virgin" copy of the .jwmrc-tray file at /initrd/pup_ro2/root.
So you would enter a terminal and type
Then go back to your jwm menu, "session" section and click on "refresh jwm".
Alternatively, you can go back to the initial black console by typing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace
and then typing
You'll be back in business, but of course, that tray file will the default one.
If you can remember your edits, when finished, make a back-up using a different
extension than *.bak. jwm uses that extension for its own purposes. Perhaps as
.jwmrc-tray.me or something like that.
I hope this helps. BFN.

Tried the suggestion and unfortunately it did not work...it's not a deal breaker but I would like to remedy this...I downloaded the newest jwm manager from their website but haven't had much luck installing(a little wary of doing more harm)...I am not great from the cli but get by most of the time researching and copy/paste, that said I really like Puppy and will persist..

yes...it's a full install....and l found a couple other items in jwm manager that no longer work... l installed cairo dock hoping i could add virtual desktops that way but it uses the ones from jwm....not a huge problem....just an opportunity to learn l guess.
