Mr. Robot - TV show with Linux references

#1 Post by Deacon »

Interesting show about some hacking kid with mental problems. Makes a few funny Linux references. One guy says "you're using GNOME? I use KDE myself" and I'm like "seriously? Either someone read Linux for Dummies to research this script or this guy's a villain."

He turned out to be a villain. So I'm watching the next episode.

found it on my cable tv on damaged app. funny no support for linux. got it for android and figured out how to play it on mac osx and windows8.. but I digress, refuse to pay another stinkin 11 usd a month for a cable box so the minimac will finally be used with OSX for the first time, was able to get netflix going good with minimac and fatdog64. But the cabke app was not able to get over the flash players age on linux.

It's a slow beginning until the system crash.

Problem is...
When I try to access the video, there is a warning displayed that because I'm not in the USA, access is not possible.
I guess I'd need to spoof my "home" country, or something.
Is that legal?

I don't think it is... it premieres around the end of the month, so I imagine it will become more available than just here though-- they only released the pilot early

It is neither legal nor difficult.

Did not get to the system crash.. I think it would been better, not to try seeing it first thing in the morning :x not exactly cold cereal material. I would say wait on the show to trickle into other countries, not sure if USA network is like BBC and would be seen AFTER release and buzz gets out the series happens like the delay we get here for Dr. Who.
lol for being USA network its got the feel it was actually filmed in Toronto or Vancouver, they should know by now the films scenes in those proto-typical Americana cities locations are starting to show through.. by overuse.

Yeah, definitely watch the whole thing. It was set in NY-- there's even a whole scene on Coney Island (at least I think it's Coney Island-- now I have to look up amusement parks in Vancouver)

Yes, for a network called USA it sure has bounced around in in ownership by internationals, including the Canadian broadcasting company some where in the mix. Safe to say the only entertainment group it has NOT passed hands thro was the Japanese...
There is such mix match that there is times it can't show something is it would trip up one of its owners other ventures. But if it becomes popular they will find a way to get it to a paying fan. The SyFy network is its sister and most likely would end up.there for international viewing.

A quick scroll of its wikipedia entry ..... suprised it can be called USA network almost like its being ironic.

My legs need toning and my wind needs rebuilding after I quit smoking.
What you might call. Getting your 2nd wind.

Still off topic. I am building up quite a collection to go with my 6 motorcycles.
