Hi Mistfire - i am enjoying this puplet and am remastering a version with some enhancements that will suit my machines and I was wondering if you know where I can find a config file that specifies what "quick launch" icons are in the tray / panel at the bottom please.
At the moment I see a midori icon and also a terminal icon - but I would also like to add a "home" icon just like the one on the desktop, a leafpad icon, and also an icon that I will use for changing screen brightness.
I have worked out how to use the panel configuration utility in a running system to set these icons up, but I would prefer to update a config file manually so that I can remaster it permanently into my new base sfs.
I tried grafting in the /root/.config/xfce4/panel directory that I saved from the running system (after using the utility to reconfigure the panel and launchers) but the remastered system appeared to ignore the new files.
I am thinking maybe I need to look in the xdg area - although I thought that only applied to xfce 4.2 and later?
Do you have any tips please?
cheers!

The xfce-panel settings located at
"/root/.config/xfce4/panel" and "/root/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml"
Also try to build the custom X-Slacko Slim using the build kit that I provided (Requires pristine X-Slacko 4.4 iso file).
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wNT3a ... ipSFR4PVGH
Modify the config files at the patches folder then run the setup.sh script.

Thanks mistfire - copying both of those directories across did the trick.
I have not tried the build kit yet but am keen to give it a go once I have a clear idea of all the changes I want to add.
I hope you don't mind if I post a link to my new manual remaster of xslacko slim 4r44 - I have added a script that turns the screen brightness to maximum when you use the following keyboard shortcut:
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+ UpArrow
(I did this because the brightness on my screen was only half normal intensity after booting). It won't work on all machines unless the script is modified to handle other manufacturer acpi_video0 transalations but i will add that in the future.
I have also added some extra launcher icons along the bottom panel for the functions I use most - so now the launcher quickstart icons are:
Thunar, leafpad, geany, Terminal and midori
(I am not keen on desktop icons as they are mostly hidden so I prefer to have icons along the bottom panel)
The download link is:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/yzqrf926 ... gg-0.3.iso
md5 is:
438abf186d8112bec264f4a694fb002e
Unfortunately I must have used a different compression as the overall size is much bigger than yours (232MB)

G'day Mistfire, Thanx 4 this X-Slacko Slim 4.4r49, after eXhaustive Testing of over a dozen different EEE PC & Atom CPU Specific Puppies yours iz the 1st & Only Puppy that Plays yoUTube Videos w/ Sound in its Native ( Midori ) Web Browser.
However it takes Over 7 minutes ( & up 2 about a 1/4 of an hOur! ) 2 Boot 2 the Desktop, this iz unacceptable because I've got More than 2 Dozen N270 & N280 NetBooks & Atom Mini PCs 2 install it on. in this case it's a Frugal install on an eXt4 File System w/ the Maximum 2 GB RAMemory az they'll all have. Also a 1 GB Swap Partition.
Have yoU got any Advice about How I Can Optimize the Boot time 2 a more satisfactory 1 - 2 minutes ( Consider that these Devices Previously had M$ Virus Bait Windows 7 Starter Edition w/ Just 1 GB RAMemory ).
Also secondarily I'd like 2 be able 2 Use Whereby Web Conferencing ( Whereby is a flexible tool providing you with video meetings in the browser – no downloads, installs & no logins for guests @ whereby.com ) it just Needs Any of Opera, Vivaldi, Kromium or Firefox ( Disqualified because of the Users Need of being able 2 Lip Read because of the No Audio Problem! ) Web Browsers & x86 32 bit I Suppoze since it'll be installed or Running On a x86 32 bit Host OS. I waz Able 2 install the Last 32 bit Opera 45, But Whereby didn't see it, I'm Guessing because it's 3 years Old. I've also installed Vivaldi 2.11 But it Refuses 2 Run & likewize the Latest 32 bit Kromium the yellow Splash Window Flashes sumthing about Run az Spot, But doesn't!
Please Help!
;-)K

@Max Headroom
Did you boot X-Slacko Slim for the first time or boot with a save file?
Can you please recreate that long boot time and send the puppyboot.log file (located at /tmp) to this forum thread?
What is the specs of your computer did you use?
If you are using chromium use the lower version (version 50+)

Thanx Mistfire 4 your reply, I don't recall the virgin boot taking too long, altho I didn't time it, I Suppoze yoU'Re Alluding 2 the possibility that the persistance save Folder iz the cause.
Sorry Mate, I tried attaching the puppyboot.log File, But it Refused!

Still I'm Grateful 4 your Help Mistfire, The Kromium.sfs didn't work w/ whereby.com ( altho I Used Newer Versions of the 3 Dependencies that yoU Noted that were Available in the PPM ).
So I've since Hunted down those eXact Versions, But they're all *.tar.gz ( Not particularly user friendly 4 my next 2 useless cli ability ). So it's Hard Yards Ahead Learning 2 Climb the Curve... 2nd Obstacle .. configure: error: C compiler cannot create executable while installing GStreamer
There were Other Errors including gcc which gave me the Clue that maybe I Needed 2 DL & install devx_slacko_6.3.2.sfs. That did the trick w/ that 1st Step, But this iz a Marathon!
