Hi All,
I'm sorry if this is elsewhere...I've been searching and nothing else has helped me fix this. I am brand new to linux and I just installed Wary Puppy on my XP era Compaq Presario V4000 just trying to get it to basic functionality. I have been able to get online through a wired connection, but unfortunately I haven't been able to get the wifi to work. The computer has a separate button above the keyboard which I assume was coded through windows to activate the wifi card so it is no longer functional. I've been trying to find a way to activate the wifi with commands, but I haven't had any luck.
I have used "ifconfig eth0 up" but when I go through the internet connection wizard, the scan finds no wireless networks (even though there are several nearby). If anyone has any suggestions, they would be very much appreciated!
ifconfig gives the following output:

How to use wifi in Compaq Presario V4000 laptop?

Possibly the problem is the 'rfkill' command which some manufacturers support. Apparently they wanted to turn on the wireless connection with one keystroke
