Hot Backup of Tahrsave folder

#1 Post by WoodLark »

I have been using puppy linux for years, but I just upgraded one of my computers to Tahrpup 6.0.3. In the past, I have always used Hot Backup to save my pupsave.2fs or .3fs files. However, this will not work with a save FOLDER. Is their an equivalent program that will allow me to do a backup while Tahrpup is running?

I know a script which creates a savefile from the running filesystem. But it convert the savefolder in a savefile:

close open apps such as browser & media player etc.
then drag and drop the save folder into the archive icon on the desktop

Hot Backup of all Official Puppy Frugal , FILE and FOLDER.

#5 Post by glene77is »

To WoodLark,

We used the HotBackup v.1.2,
but it gave problems ,
and had extra features and required steps we did not required.
We tried v.1.3 with no success.
We tried v.1.4 with some success.

But, we wrote our own,
and we run it six times every day.

So check this:

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 24#1050224

Our script has been tested successfuly
on our running "Official" Puppy Frugal Systems (32bit):
An associate has tested this on his 64bit systems.
* Slacko 632
* Xenial 708
* Tahr-606
* UpupBB-19.03 +10, +12, +14, +16, +17, +18 , +19, +20
and also
* Quirky April-7 32bit
* LXpup 32bit

Works on saveFOLDER and saveFILE.4fs .
Should work for you.
