Been trying to get it going and no luck.
Got hung up on using and old chirp.0.4.1 after using sfsget devx... Installed a few things but what is working is to go to a terminal and run chirpw which then gos as far as needing gtk. supposedly if I install python-gtk and python-serial I should be closer to getting it running... But here I go again... So before I go to another clean install of slako 6.3 (cause I know I am going to screw this install up) Is there a step by step method of installing chirp to slako 6.3 that someone has already figured out...

Maybe it needs gtk+-3.0?
Slacko ships with gtk+-2.0 only. You can get 3.0 in the package manager. I believe it requires pyserial too. See the slackbuild- https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.1/ham/chirp/

I just downloaded the latest CHIRP, packaged it , also latest pyserial from the git, in X-Slacko 6.3, not sure what other files are needed other than python, but I must of installed them previously.
Chirp works ok for me, it read my Pofung GT-5 radio ok and cloned the changes I made without error, so it appears to be a goer.

5x5 - Gonna do a clean install tonight...Geoffrey wrote:I installed chirp and pyserial on a clean boot, needed to install from the Slacko PPM...
Its odd... I pulled out my old Heathkit 10m, resurrected my old dipole (still hanging between trees), and put Puppy on my ATX... Really only using Chirp to get all my Freqs off of a UV5R.. Who knows, mayby I'll be DXing next week, or is it just my age... Again...
THANKS...
