Que? Thoughts on security

#1 Post by Lobster »

When it comes to computer usage and in particular an OS, I am a flexitarian.

People are trying to use and connect different devices via the cloud. However ...

... The cloud is not open or worse yet it is open to anyone data mining and data selling ...

What are the alternatives?

Securing individual devices and swapping between them using sneakernet. That is using a physical write to a portable data storage device. For example an SD/MicroSD card.

Some OS I won't use. Windows no longer is on any computer I own. I use an Ipad but do not use their 'secure' (huh!) Icloud 'service'.

I use what I consider a secure processor, ARM on the Raspberry Pi with Raspbian.

I am using Puppy 8.1, even though it has not been released and only a select few developers are capable of producing it - and I am not one of them ...

Obviously using an OS that does not exist is a Quantum imaginary future Puppy ...

I also don't really like Android. Mainly because jail breaking it is proving too hard for my limited neurons (lobsters only have 100 000 - fortunately wer-lobsters use them as qubits - theoretically)

Puppy users have always thought different. Just like our fellow penguins.

Where am I going with this? Suggestions to the usual vet for crazy dawgs ...
