adguard.ru on USB

#1 Post by p310don »

I have a USB that I use to do a back up on. It has always had a default label of Sandisk.

Today, I plugged it in and the volume label is now adguard.ru

It was sandisk yesterday, it hasn't been plugged in since using it yesterday, and today it is adguard.ru

The only computer it has been plugged into is a Puppy machine.

Note, this machine has chromium installed with adguard ad blocker. Interestingly, it also has ublock origin, which blocks the adguard.ru website...

Any ideas how this can happen?

I've never heard of adguard before {or uguard}, but assuming it is legit, a quick google shows there have been counterfeit versions of it that build botnets or something. Perhaps you installed one of those. But renaming a disk is a surprising activity for malware...

Is it definitely the same disk and the same Puppy install?
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

100% sure on both counts

Indeed.

I took the disk to another Puppy machine and it didn't appear to have that label. But putting it back into this same machine, it still has the odd label. It is very strange.
