from the repository and I get an error with a lot of text which basically says that these packages are not available.
libgoocanvas3_0.15-1_i386.deb and
libgoocanvas-common_0.15-1_all.deb
Any idea how I can solve this ?

Are you suggesting you've updated PPM and it's not connecting to Ubuntu repos?

Hetejas, is this Tahr 6.0.5 or 6.0.6?

I didn't either -- initially. In order to get Tahr's repos working again the solution was twofold. It involves editing /root/.packages/DISTRO_COMPAT_REPOS in your home directory and the upgrade of a few web-centric protocols.
If you need details, tell me on your end whether PPM successfully updates.

PPM was successful.
I dont know how to see the version number of a repository.
I tried installing via the link you provided and it seemed to install ok. There is an entry in the Personal items, but I have been unsuccessful in getting it to execute. When I click on it, nothing happens.
Still working on it.
I got this error when executing from the terminal.

gpredict
gpredict: error while loading shared libraries: libgoocanvas.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
root# pfind

looks like I need that library entry. Would it make sense to go looking for it ?

Here, update this, "enter" for all and tell me whether or not it gets to where it has to "process" the database files.
I'm looking for an answer from you..

Setup PPM like this, close/reopen and look for gpredict again.
The third screenshot shows your search results with *most,* if not, *ALL* dependencies required by your pkg.
Guessing you've had the "auto-install >> DO IT!" setup, you'd have missed this info.

I didn't instruct you on editing anything -- yet.
Look for the one or two packages you're missing and confirm one way or another if PPM makes them available.

Semme, this is getting to be too difficult and time consuming and with a potential for damage when I get something wrong.
The bit about adding a repository is taking a lot of reading, etc.
Does there happen to be a package that will let me easily add a repo ?
I have tried Slax linux and the gpredict program ran flawlessly.
So, I am going to switch over to it. Thanks again for your efforts, and if you know of a repository adding program and can point me to it within the next 30 minutes, I will give it a try.
Otherwise I will have to say goodbye to Xenial puppy. Sobbbb !! What a shame.

I apologize if I misread your instructions. This one sounded like you wanted me to edit those files. YIKES !! But all turned out ok.Semme wrote:I didn't instruct you on editing anything -- yet.
