Sorry I wasn't more clear. I believe I used the GRUB Bootloader, which was a menu selection from within Precise Puppy.

GRUB seems reluctant to install

After installing Precise Puppy (5.4) on my Thinkpad R50e, I attempted the procedure for making the hard drive bootable. Unlike previous installations, where I accepted all the defaults, this one did not suggest a location to install GRUB. So I entered /dev/sda/ in the field and clicked Continue. The...

Dillo issue?

all this interest in dillo lately . .. . I checked Yahoo. If you scroll down (and down and down) you get most of the material. Its just not rendered properly. As these webpages get more complex, the superlightweight browsers aren't able to organize them as well. Thanks ! Best answer yet. howard

How to change screensaver

Semme wrote:Hi Howard- would you prefer one of these?
Thanks. I just want a simple screensaver that displays time and date. However, my append is more about HOW to change the screensaver than which screensaver do I want.

Dillo issue?

I've since installed Chromium as my default browser. However, I'm curious as to why Dillo displays a sort of indented list of Yahoo headings but not graphic Yahoo page we all know and love.
Thanks

How to change the screensaver?

I started playing around with Puppy 5.2.8, the version built with Ubuntu binaries. I cannot locate the place where one can change screensavers. Can someone please direct me?
Many thanks

RAR file SW

Does Puppy (4.2.1) contain an executable that will unzip .RAR files? If not, is there a recommended application that can be downloaded/installed as a PET?
Thanks.

Need driver for PCI wireless Adapter (Puppy 4.2.1)

The forum Search can be limited to search for only the posts you (howard) have made. You must not have asked for the driver in the forum because you've made 48 posts and only this one seems to be about a wireless driver. :) Have you tried searching the forum for any posts about your laptop? (Hint: ...

Need driver for PCI wireless adapter in 4.2.1

I think I need a refresher course in setting up a wireless connection using Puppy 4.2.1. BTW, my PC is an IBM Thinkpad R50e [1842-PPU], whose wireless adapter is described on Lenovo's Product Information pages as '802.11b/g MPCI'. I think this adapter may be some Intel permutation. I've tried all th...

No video after boot-up

I tried running Puppy 5.0 from CD on my middle-aged Thinkpad. It seemed to boot up okay until it reached the point where the GUI is supposed to display. Then, a blank screen. Having already tried the same CD on a newer laptop, I suspected that 5.0 has dropped the option for Xvesa (or at least I coul...

Where's the sound?

I have Puppy 4.3 installed on my Thinkpad T51. While the Puppy Bark is fairly audible, I cannot get other sounds, especially those that arrive by way of the Internet, to play at a decent volume. I tried running the Sound Card Wizard. At one point ALSA presents a list of "sound cards." I'm ...

FlashBolck add-on to FirePup

Many thanks, MikeB and TTuuxxx. Now that I know what FlashBlock is and how to change options, I think I'll keep it. I sure don't miss all those stupid ads.

FirePup question

Been playing around with FirePup for about a month. I noticed on various web pages that wherever there is a frame for Flash Player, instead of displaying an image/video the slanty f instead appears. If I move the screen cursor in the vicinity of the f it changes to a right-facing arrow, which I can ...

I'll answer my own question. The desktop calendar is a Pwidget, not Osmo. Select File > Show Widget Config File(s) Edit file to change first day of week from Monday to ...

Piccaune request

Thanks, Beem. I just checked. In Osmo's calendar the first day of week is set to Sunday. On the calendar that appears on my desktop the first day of week is Monday. I wish to change the desktop calendar to a first day of Sunday.
