EBook Reader - FBReader

#1 Post by BlackAdder »

FBReader is an Ebook reader that runs on a number of Linux platforms (and Windows XP for the masochists). It can display from files in several formats, e.g. Text, HTML, .chm, Plucker, Mobipocket and the FictionBook format (.fb2).
Looks as though it could be very useful for children (and others) running Puppy on a Classmate or EeePC. Supports several languages also.
Download from here, (1.4MB) and unpack to the root directory (/). Program is then at /usr/bin/FBReader and there is a desktop icon at /usr/share/pixmaps/FBReader.png.
Read more at http://www.fbreader.org/
It is installed and working on 2.xx series and 3.xx series Puppies.
If there is lots of interest a .pet could be created, but it is easy to install without one.

FBReader install

#2 Post by ndujoe1 »

Thanks for bring to us the FBReader. I installed it. I have been using the Extext reader since I got PUppy LInux and have been reading the Gutenberg text thereby.

Looks like the FBReader will open up more reading options and sources for us all.
