libvte.so.9 for gtkterm, where to find?

#1 Post by VariEze »

I'd like to use gtkterm, but it needs libvte.so.9. Where can I get it?

specifically, this is the error:

#./gtkterm: error while loading shared libraries: libvte.so.9: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I searched for libvte, and it's not installed as far as I can tell.

I am trying to install gtkterm in dpup009, got the libvte error and found this thread, but after downloading and un-compressing it I cannot figure out where to put it so gtkterm can find it.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I discovered a PET which worked fine in dpup009, I need to test in Fluppy as well.

Hmm I tried to extract the above on my Puppy 4.2.0 but something didn't work properly, how can I check what the error is? Peeking into /usr/lib I found libvte.so.9 and libvte.so.9.1.5

As I wanted to use Geany's vte I created a symbolik link:

ln -s /usr/lib/libvte.so.9.1.5 /usr/lib/libvte.so

Great, only Geany won't start anymore. Bah. Unlink didn't work so I removed the link via:

rm /usr/lib/libvte.so

Doesn't seem to have worked though, geany's still a no show.
