firefox 2.12 flash java SFS

#1 Post by big_bass »

original post by ttuuxxx

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=26752

special note and credit : I converted his work to a SFS

I had to zip it but just click on it to unzip it

http://ttuuxxx.com/bigbass/firefox_flas ... .12.tar.gz
md5sum /root/firefox_flash_java-2.12.tar.gz
2a125d086be4e87a4e56b15098491a66 /root/firefox_flash_java-2.12.tar.gz

I added modified patch and it was applied to the SFS so it will work on any version

Hey, thanks for this!
But it does not seem to work for me (using NOP Puppy)
I installed it using BootManager, but if it IS getting installed, it does not show up in the menus... any ideas as to why, or how can I check if it's actually installed?

Thank you

Ignore the above post, it IS installed... it just does not have a menu entry in XFCE. I used a terminal, and there it is!

Thanks

Hmm, I thought this was one of those click it and choose which components you want it to install deals. I couldn't figure out what to do with this at first, so I tried the firefox+java+flash pet file, but package manager says I don't have enough memory/space to install it. So I realized I could mount the sfs file by rightclicking and choosing mount (in Nearly Office Puppy), but from there, the only thing I could figure out was to just copy the files over my file system, pasting the folders into "/" . So, Firefox and Thunderbird seem to be working great. But what about Java? Do I still have to reinstall Java? Also, is this full java or just the jre, because jre is all I need.

answer number 1.)

1.) in 3.00 or 3.01 you just click on the sfs and it opens like a folder I placed a read me inside that says this

usr/local/bin has the firefox short cut to start the program
you can drag it to your desk top if you want
I provided an icon to use also called mozicon128.png

drag THE FIREFOX SCRIPT in /usr/local/bin to your desktop right click set icon
drag the mozicon128.png in the box

this is now a complete sfs not dependent on pre installed seamonkey libs used in puppy linux

2.) yes, this is a full java

if you just want firefox and flash
then add the small java do this

install this

http://www.ttuuxxx.com/bigbass/firefox-2.0.0.13.pet

then add the small java
ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributio ... airo-1.pet

3.)now since you are having problems with large packages I made a fix for that too  http://www.ttuuxxx.com/bigbass/petget.tar.gz

click on it it will unzip to root
then copy that to /usr/sbin
it will over write the pet get and fix it

Sorry, had to edit this original post a bit. I go overboard on my thanks if I don't watch it. But thanks for your help and for those packages.

I'm having the same problem with large packages? Is it a bug in 3.01? I have a brand new 1G pup_save file.

Also, I tried installing the firefox.pet with just flash and then the smaller java .pet. The firefox install seems ok except that it complained about missing dependencies at the end of the successful install. However, the java package does not seem to have done anything. about:plugins does not show any java installed and when I try to reinstall it tells me that it is already installed.

Any ideas?

I installed both and saw some dependency errors after a successful install of both. Is that expected to happen?
