MediaPup
thanks pavolo!
(By the way, I'm not an author -- just an ordinary user who added some packages to a standard puppy and worked out a few dependencies. I'm not in the same class as those who compile and create special puplets from scratch. The only thing I'm personally responsible for is the wallpaper )
And thank you for making it all possible, Barry Kauler.

Megaupload, like Rapidshare is a Web Site where you can upload huge
files for free and share them with an unlimited number of people, to whom you simply provide the download link. It's NOT a torrent unfortunately, but works very well IMHO, and its file size limit is much bigger than Rapidshare's . A real resource in these troubled times .
Cheers from Italy

Farout! Seriously, MediaPup needs way more exposure! Vtpup... Not sure what to say but MediaPup is fantastic! It's so hard for me to explain what a huge need it's filled This is the best answer so far to Puppy's video editing deficiencies and I don't know why it seems relatively unknown. It's been a dream for me for a long time to be able to do video editing in Linux, and now it seems can. The fact that it's in Puppy is even sweeter! Thanks so much for spending the time putting it together, and uploading, awesome!

Shucks, no thanks Lobster, my voice isn't quite as soothing as yours or melodic as Headfound. I think I'd rather think about other ways of promoting itLobster wrote:Glad to hear it.battleshooter wrote:Not sure what to say but MediaPup is fantastic!

*Grin* Not a bad idea Lobster. I'll keep it in mind However, it unfortunately didn't get on well with my browser and Firefox crashed everytime I tried it.Lobster wrote:If you ever change your mindbattleshooter wrote:no thanks Lobster, my voice isn't quite as soothing as yours or melodic as Headfound.

You're very welcomed Thanks for making it.
Bringing me back down to earth from my rapturous praise, , I've come across a queer bug. All the programs you've installed into 4.12r detect the DVD drive with no problems. However, all the preinstalled multimedia programs that come with Puppy 4.12 eg. Pburn, can't correctly detect my drive, I'm not sure what's causing it.
K3B, detects the drive as scd0, and the drive works as that. Pburn, detects the drive as sr0, and the drive doesn't work.
It's not really life or death to me as I use K3B for just about everything (I think I prefer it to Pburn anyway), but I thought I'd just mention it.

Re: Does this help with DVD detection issue?
Not sure Drongo, the link only leads to the Puppy Derivatives forum.
Thanks for the interest anyway,

Error booting MediaPup CD
Hello I'm having a problem booting the MediaPup CD.
I've double checked md2sum on multiple CDs of multiple downloads. Was able to install Puppy Linux 4.12 and 4.2 on the same machine, but MediaPup will not load.
I get the same error:
Searching for Puppy files in computer disk drives...pup_412.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console...
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
Can someone point me in the right direction? TIA.

Brilliant Drongo! Thanks so much! It works great. I'm glad it was such an easy fix. I made a script out of it and stuck it on the desktop. It's just kind of odd pmount didn't get it.

Did you check the md5sum on the actual download? Maybe you could also try:
Code: Select all
puppy pfix=ram

Could go to the folder the MediaPup download is and press `, then type:
And post the results?
The code should be the same as this:
