Hi everyone,
I've just bought what I think could be a wonderful puppy machine: a refurbished HP nc4000 (pentium M 1.4 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB hard disk, 12" monitor).
I wanted to compare perfs with another laptop: a compaq presario R3000 (AMD Athlon64 3500+, 1.256 GB RAM, 100 GB hard disk), so I started puppy 4.2 from live CD, with pfix=ram in both cases, and ran the benchmarks.
I've been surprized to see that, according to the rough results, the little nc4000 outperforms the R3000, which, a priori, would seem more powerful.
Test nc4000 R3000
zlib 12918 6054
Fibonacci 7.7 9.97
MD5 28.25 20.9
SHA1 52.35 25.17
Blowfish 34.04 50.81
Raytracing 37.1 63.6
Should something be customized in puppy in order to get right perfs with Athlon64 ?
Thanks in advance
