I've started poking around ROX a bit and continue to be amazed at the rich variety of features it includes. One interesting ability is the whole ROX APP "thing". Unfortunately Puppy 4.3.1 ROX does not include the "AddApp" extension. It seems to require Python and other stuff to install, including the ability to execute BOURNE scripts. I quickly found myself beyond my ability. So anyway...
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A .PET OR SOME OTHER FRIENDLY WAY TO INSTALL AddApp IN ROX

Hi
Best I can find is here
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 612#242612
Note the recommendation about zeroinstall [cr*p - cb88's words!]

Hardly a noobie project, so you may need someone to make a .pet.....
Perhaps cb88?

I replied to your email... but I will post here as well
Python is pretty much required I think it might drag in its own version though I don't remember.
Bourne scripts are just regular scripts BASH stands for Bourne Again SHell as far as I know all versions of puppylinux have either bash or busybox for shell scripting
most of the good extensions to rox are written in python which is a massive ram hog. I think that in theory it is possible to install rox apps without zero-install (0install) which would be HIGHLY preferable
If you decide to go ahead with it I will say that 0install will be the easiest way though it isn't all that great you would probably have to be a developer to figure out how to make dotpets of all the rox apps themselves
Note: use python 2.x since 3.x breaks things and I doubt any rox applications have been updated

Taking Puppy Linux to the limit of perfection. meanwhile try "puppy pfix=duct_tape" kernel parem eater.

Re: Installing AddApp for ROX
Bash is the Bourne Again SHell. The shell language it implements is an upwardly compatible superset of the Bourne shell, with extensions derived from the C and Korn shells. Bash should handle any Bourne shell scripts.UberNoob wrote: It seems to require Python and other stuff to install, including the ability to execute BOURNE scripts.
