it's difficult to stop anyone from using technology in stupid ways.. along with RTFM one must also have some commonsense.

Thus we have safe lists. If you have a girlfriend that emails you, you should set her on safe just in case. After all, they aren't exactly mentally stable. At least the ones in my highschool aren't. But then, I'm not either. But my insanity isn't destructive, just weird.

Actually if this is a real bug then its really bad. Not just because a broken relationship that maybe was already broken.

Just imagin a person trying to getout of a bad relationship and investigating lawyers or support centers or trying to setup a separate bank account or separate email for private communication. If even deleting 'history' does not delete. That could get really ugly.

There are many scenarios like that one where expecting privacy is very important.

In any event. This is another example of how using Puppy 100% in RAM could be a life saver.

He's blaming Thunderbird's spam filter when he should be blaming the spammers who made the filter necessary in the first place. Maybe this is really a sneak attack by spammers. There's a lot of money in spamming, apparently, or people wouldn't risk their lives to do it.
