[Solved] Full screen windows

#1 Post by beyondbeige »

Hi,

I have an issue with some games, when I try to maximise their window, the windows stays the same size; it usually moves to the top left of the screen, but the size doesn't change.

The machine is for use by children, so I really would like their games to use the full screen, (cut down on distractions etc.).

Can someone please advise how I go about resolving and fixing these, please?

Hi,

Currently I'm using HanSamBen 431 (based on Puppy 4.31) (although I also had the same problem with Puppy 5.01).

Programs with this problem:
GCompris; Childplay; HHH (Help Hanna's Horse); Pingus

Programs working fine: Picpuz; TuxPaint; GoOllie

O/S is full install; hardware: 1Ghz PIII, 256Mb ram, 20Gb h'drive (with 1Gb linux swap partition); dedicated pc (ie no other o/s installed).

Jwm can have problems with this. Consider switching to Open Box or IceWM.

Eeek! Sounds like a big job - is it(?), or is this a simple download via package manager?

It's not really difficult, but I wouldn't use the one in the repository (if there is one for .431). They can be pretty old and iffy sometimes.

A thread with a good IceWM package is right here. It has directions for switching between the default JWM and IceWM, too.
Just take a peek at the thread and then download the attached PET and install it if you want to try it out.

Good luck!

That's a great link, explained nicely, just what I need.

Many thanks,
Simon :)
