How to upgrade a LUPU 5.0.1 full disk install

#1 Post by arrini2f »

Hi. I'm running a disk full install of LUPU 5.0.1 with a lot of added apps (various from the Ubuntu repos) and some customization. How can I upgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.1 keeping things running like now, without reinstalling the entire stuff? I've seen in other forum topics references to the upgrade process but not oriented to a disk full install scenary.. Is there some way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

I've updated 4.xx series puppies and from 5.1 to 5.1.1 by booting
the new disk:
Running universal installer, full install, and "Upgrade" not "Wipe"

Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
Eeepc 8g 701, 900Mhz, 1Gb ram.
Full installs

What's the correct way to upgrade Lupu 5.00 full install to the last 5.11 version in the case that the devx (compiler, etc.) package has been installed also?

TIA

Um... isn't there some way to upgrade without having to burn a cd?

One of the purposes of installing Puppy to disk, IMO, is to avoid consuming cd's.

Burn it to a CD-RW. Puppy is designed to run from a CD. Installing is an added feature.
How you install determines how you can upgrade.
