Rewriting http://puppylinux.com?

#1 Post by Gurglin »

Hi,

This is just a suggestion, not aimed at bettering Puppy OS, but with the goal of making PuppyLinux more visible, with most of its releases.

Weeks ago I checked Mint site. Not only I liked it from the aesthetic point of view, but I also thought it was functional, with the 5 boxes at the top showing Mint different releases.

Well, I think a site like that were perfect for Puppy! We have at least two official releases (LuPu and Quirky), plus Puppeee. Moreover 4.3.2, 2.X and maybe 4.4 are gonna be part of the family, sooner or later. Why not showing all of them at a glance at the beginning of a new site?

We have two major sites, http://puppylinux.org and http://puppylinux.com, which do not differ a lot... why not rewriting http://puppylinux.com and providing it with a more "commercial" (in terms of visibility) role?

puppylinux.xom is Barry's website. The puppylinux.org one is for the community.

Why not create the page you wish to add and I will happily add it?

Scarce time is the eternal constraint of perfection. :)

raffy: I would be willing to make a site template, if no one else is.

Maybe, but Puppy is so great that deserves to be used by a much wider number of people, and a user-friendly captivating web portal would be a plus.

Sadly enough I do not have the skills for doing it (I am just a final user), but I was thinking of something like a Puppy-Portal, both for external and internal purposes. External for attracting more users and internal for being of reference for the wide puppy universe...

Something similar to Mint web page, as said, for an easy choice among the growing puppy OS offer and choice, but also with http://www.pupweb.org/desktop/ bar (or something like that) and http://wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html.

In other words, I see the necessity of coagulating the large Puppy world into a central tool, a portal, from which one could easily access all the available resources just with one click. Now you have to dig the web and waste a lot of time...
