Questions re using Puppy 525

#1 Post by SPJ29 »

I am looking to install PL5.2.5 HD Full. I am coming from a windows background so I need some basic clarification of some issues.

1. Can I install WINE on 5.2.5.
2. Is it easy to connect to my wireless network.
3. How do I install my HP Photosmart WIFI printer on Puppy.
4. I have a Wireless Keyboard with programmable buttons. This comes with a CD rom, can use the CD for puppy.

These questions will be easier to answer AFTER you have done the install.

1. probably.
2. usually.
3. via cups.
4. not with that cd - but there may be other options available.

why the full install? what hardware are you using?

if you are unsure of your hardware and still have windows available you could download, install and run this freeware which will tell you all you need to know about your machine: http://www.piriform.com/speccy

boot puppy live from cd/dvd/usb and/or try a frugal install if possible and report back.

Thanks Artifus, not a definite answer but at least I know puppy linux can probably cope with the tasks.

rcrsn51 all I wanted to know was if puppy could do the tasks before I waste time installing an OS.

Now I know I can play around with puppy.

I would recommend that you do not do any kind of install until you've spent some time working off the live cd. Play around with it. Make sure it does what you want before you install. That's what the live cd is for.
